Goodmayes Hospital is a mental health facility located in Goodmayes, London. Plans for ward upgrades, extensions and refurbishments required some consideration of the exiting plant and mains feeds currently serving the space.
Working closely with the consultants Ingleton Wood, we were asked to manage the procurement and installation (including all groundworks) for a new mains gas and water feed to run to an existing plantroom. Phase one of the project required the demolition of old and installation of new mechanical plant, including: 3 x Megaflo cylinders, 5 x commercial gas boilers and steps towards more energy efficient working with the installation of a CHP system and BMS controls.
The project required expert project management and planning with many factors to consider, including lead times, specialist contractors, associated groundworks and the constant consideration of not impeding the operation of the hospital. The external plant room entrance was located on a blue route so logistical planning was key. The project was successfully handed over in late 2018 and we continue to work closely with the trust.
